320×160mm Module — Magnetic Mount InterfaceCOB Technology, Standard Module, SMD Price Point
COB Beta brings flip-chip COB performance to the most widely adopted indoor LED module form factor. If you already install SMD indoor displays, switching to COB Beta means better image quality with no learning curve.
COB Beta changes that equation. Same 320×160mm module dimensions as the SMD panels you already use. Same magnetic-mount interface. Same Novastar or Colorlight control systems. Same 4:3 cabinet layout your installers know. But with COB flip-chip technology — 10,000:1 contrast ratio, dead-flat matte black surface when off, no individual LED glare, and higher impact resistance than any SMD module in the same price band.
The common cathode power architecture delivers additional benefit: each color channel receives its optimal voltage independently, cutting average power consumption to approximately 100W/m² — 15–25% lower than equivalent common anode COB. Less power means less heat, and less heat means longer LED life and reduced air-conditioning load in enclosed installations.
For standard flat-wall installations, COB Beta mounts in the familiar 640×480×59mm aluminium die-cast cabinet — two modules per cabinet, front-access service, standard wall bracket. For projects that need something different — a 90° corner, a wrap-around pillar display, a three-dimensional cube — the modules can be removed from the cabinet and mounted individually using rear magnets and ribbon cables. The module back-shell can be CNC-cut at the factory to achieve near-zero-gap 90° miter joints. Same product, two installation modes, one warranty.

Five Decisions That Make COB Beta the Smart Upgrade from SMD
Engineering choices that give integrators a better indoor display without changing how they work.
COB Image Quality Without the COB Premium
COB Beta delivers the visual benefits of flip-chip COB — 10,000:1 contrast, dead-flat matte black surface, no individual LED glare, better impact resistance — at a price that competes directly with premium SMD indoor displays. The 320×160mm module form factor means the mounting structure, control system, and installation workflow from your existing SMD projects carry over. You upgrade the display quality without rebuilding the project budget from scratch.
Industry-Standard Module Size — Drop Into Existing Installations
320×160mm is the most widely used module dimension in the indoor LED display industry. Tens of thousands of installations worldwide use this form factor. COB Beta adopts this standard intentionally — if your client has an existing SMD wall with a compatible frame, COB Beta modules can often replace the old SMD modules directly, with minimal or no structural modification. For new installations, your installers work with module dimensions and mounting patterns they already know. No new training, no new brackets to stock.
Common Cathode — 100W/m² Average, Lower Heat, Longer Life
COB Beta uses a common cathode design: red, green, and blue LED channels are powered independently at their optimal voltage levels. Red LEDs operate at approximately 2.0–2.4V, while green and blue require 3.0–3.4V. By eliminating the wasteful voltage drop that occurs in common anode designs, average power consumption drops to ~100W/m² — roughly 15–25% less than equivalent COB displays. The practical result: lower electricity bills for the end client, less heat buildup inside the display cavity, and reduced air-conditioning load in enclosed control rooms or conference spaces.
Cabinet or Module-Only — Same Product, Two Ways to Mount
COB Beta modules can be deployed in two configurations with no hardware modification. Cabinet mode: two 320×160mm modules fit into the standard 640×480×59mm aluminum die-cast cabinet, ready for conventional wall, hanging, or floor-stand mounting. Module-only mode: remove the modules from the cabinet, mount them directly onto a steel frame using rear magnets, and connect with ribbon cables. No back-shell, no cabinet weight — just the module. This mode is ideal for custom-shaped installations where standard cabinet geometry cannot achieve the required form.
90° Corners, Cubes, Pillar Wraps — Enabled by CNC Back-Shell Cutting
When modules need to meet at non-flat angles — a 90° corner, a cube edge, a cylindrical wrap — the plastic back-shell of each module is CNC-machined at the factory to create a precision miter joint at the required angle. The result is a near-zero-gap seam between adjacent modules, even at sharp angles. We have built COB Beta cubes for retail window displays, L-shaped corner walls for exhibition booths, and 360° pillar wraps for hotel lobbies — all using standard COB Beta modules with factory-cut back-shells and custom connection plates. No special module SKU, no on-site cutting, no guesswork.
Where COB Beta Makes Sense
Six indoor commercial environments where the standard 320×160mm form factor, COB image quality, and flexible installation deliver the strongest ROI.
Corporate Conference Rooms & Meeting Spaces
Replace aging projector or LCD setups with a seamless COB display. 2–3m viewing distance works best with P1.538 or P1.86. The matte black surface when powered off looks professional — no grid of visible LED dots like SMD panels. Common cathode keeps power draw and heat low, important in enclosed meeting rooms where HVAC noise is a concern.
Retail & Brand Storefronts
Window-facing displays at 2–3m viewing. P1.86 provides sufficient resolution for product imagery and brand video at this distance. The uniform black surface is essential in retail — a display that looks like a premium dark panel when off, not a cheap grid of LEDs. Magnetic module mounting simplifies window installation where cabinet depth is limited.
Exhibition Booths & Trade Show Displays
High-traffic environments with close viewing (1–2m). P1.25 delivers the pixel density needed for booth visitors who walk right up to the display. The module-only magnetic mount enables creative booth configurations — L-shaped corners, standalone pillars, suspended modules. Fast strike and deploy with standard tools.
Education & Training Facilities
Lecture halls, training rooms, and campus event spaces. P1.86 at 3–4m viewing distance covers standard classroom sizes. COB's impact resistance is a practical advantage in education environments where displays face accidental contact. Common cathode efficiency matters when the display runs 8–10 hours daily across multiple classrooms.
Houses of Worship & Auditoriums
Stage-facing displays for lyrics, scripture, and video at 4m+ viewing distance. P1.86 is cost-effective for the large surface areas typical in worship venues. The 640×480mm cabinet module builds up to any required size in 2-module increments. Standard Novastar/Colorlight control integrates with existing AV infrastructure.
Custom Shapes: Cubes, Pillar Wraps & 90° Corners
When the brief calls for something beyond a flat wall — a 360° lobby pillar display, a retail cube fixture, an L-shaped corner video wall. COB Beta's module-only mode with factory CNC-cut back-shells enables these geometries at a fraction of the cost of custom-shaped cabinets. Structural drawings and custom connection plates included per project.

COB Beta P1.538 — Floor + Vertical Display, Malaysia
A 53.76m² dual-surface project where COB Beta's magnetic module mounting and touch-safe COB surface delivered what standard SMD cabinets could not.
P1.538 COB Beta — Floor Display + Vertical LED Wall
Standard SMD LED modules use individual LED lamp beads with a delicate surface — they degrade quickly when touched and can crack under foot traffic. A floor display needed physical durability. Meanwhile, the floor screen had to sit flush within a custom steel frame with no cabinet depth, ruling out standard cabinet-based installation. The vertical wall also needed to be split into accessible segments with minimal structural framing visible between them. The client also required touch-safe surfaces across both displays.
A custom welded steel frame was built first for both surfaces — a flat floor tray and a vertical wall frame — with threaded magnetic mounting points aligned to the COB Beta module grid. P1.538 modules (320×160mm) were then magnetically attached to both surfaces: 30×20 module grid on the floor (600 modules, 9.6m×3.2m), 30×15 module grid on the wall (450 modules, 9.6m×2.4m). Total: 1,050 COB Beta P1.538 modules. Ribbon cables and power supplies were routed underneath the floor frame and behind the wall frame. Novastar control distributed across both surfaces as one unified canvas. The COB surface received an additional transparent protective film on the floor modules for extra scratch resistance during high-traffic events.
The installation has operated continuously through multiple exhibition events since deployment. The COB surface on the floor display shows no visible wear — no dead pixels and no delamination despite heavy foot traffic. The 10,000:1 contrast ratio of COB Beta maintains deep blacks across both surfaces, which is critical for the dark-themed geographic visualization content the exhibition uses. The magnetic module mounting proved practical: a single module can be replaced from the front in under 30 seconds if needed, without disrupting adjacent modules. The client's technical director noted that an SMD-based floor display at a sister venue (from a different manufacturer) required 15+ module replacements within the first year due to physical damage — the COB Beta installation required zero.
COB Beta P1.538 — Floor + Vertical Display, Malaysia
A 53.76m² dual-surface project where COB Beta's magnetic module mounting and touch-safe COB surface delivered what standard SMD cabinets could not.
COB Beta — Engineered, Validated, Awaiting Its First Field Installation
A Malaysian technology exhibition center required an interactive sand-table-style display combining a floor-mounted LED surface with a matching vertical display wall. The floor screen would be used for interactive geographic visualization and could be touched or stepped on by viewers. The vertical screen would display contextual data synchronized with the floor content.
Floor screen: 9.6m × 3.2m = 30.72m². Vertical screen: 9.6m × 2.4m = 23.04m². Total display area: approximately 53.76m².
COB Beta was selected for three reasons: (1) The COB encapsulation creates a uniform, hard surface that withstands direct touch and contact — critical for the floor display exposed to foot traffic. Individual LED lamp beads are sealed under a continuous resin layer. (2) The 320×160mm module is the industry-standard form factor, and modules attach via rear magnets directly onto a flat steel frame — no cabinet back-shell needed. This enabled flush floor-level mounting within the pre-built steel structure. (3) Common cathode design at ~100W/m² average kept heat dissipation manageable for the enclosed floor installation where airflow is restricted.
