Decision Guide

Who Should Choose LED Film

LED Film is for glass you cannot or do not want to replace. If the left column matches the job, this is the right product.

LED Film is the right choice for
  • ✓ Existing storefront glass — landlord or heritage rules block glass replacement
  • ✓ Retail & brand flagships — media on the window without losing the product view
  • ✓ Car dealerships (4S) — showroom glass walls, content over vehicles
  • ✓ Office glass partitions — meeting-room signage and privacy without construction
  • ✓ Curved glass — flexible PET bends to column and atrium radii
  • ✓ Pop-ups & activations — temporary install, quick strike, no building modification
  • ✓ AV integrators — retrofit glass projects, cut-to-size, factory-direct pricing
Consider other products for
  • ✗ Outdoor façades — see Transparent Grid (IP30 indoor; outdoor options on request)
  • ✗ Direct-sun south-facing glass — see Transparent Grid (up to 5,000 nits)
  • ✗ Fine pitch under P2.5 — see LED Holographic (P2.5–P6.25)
  • ✗ Large structural walls — see Transparent Grid (modular cabinets, hang/stack/fix)
Overview

What Makes LED Film Different

LED Film is not a cabinet you hang — it is a transparent display you stick onto glass. That single difference removes most of the cost and disruption integrators normally absorb on glass media projects.

Transparent LED film puts the LED circuit and driver inside a single flexible PET sheet, about 2.5mm thin. Most pitches ship in 250mm, 500mm, 750mm, and 1000mm widths; P15 uses 390×990 and 250×1000 mm. Panels are cut to your glass dimensions at the factory. There is no cabinet, no frame, and no structural steel: the film bonds directly to the glass with a peel-and-stick adhesive layer.

The payoff is speed and cost. You are not fabricating a frame or touching the building structure, so a retrofit storefront can go from quote to a live screen without replacing the glass. A two-person crew typically covers 20–30 m² per day on flat, accessible glass; curved or high glass takes longer. When the campaign ends, the film comes off with no permanent alteration to the glass.

Performance does not stop at transparency. The film runs at 2,000–4,000 nits (P5 at 2,500 nits), a 5,000:1 contrast ratio, 3,840Hz refresh, and 16-bit grayscale — smooth, flicker-free motion that photographs cleanly. The substrate is UV-resistant and V1 flame-retardant, and the wiring uses breakpoint signal continuation, so a single failed LED shows as a local gap instead of blanking the row.

Manufactured end-to-end in Shenzhen — PET substrate, LED mounting, driver integration, cutting, and aging — one factory, one point of contact, one 2-year warranty.

Six Decisions That Matter on Retrofit Glass

What the film actually does on a lease, a curved column, and a window that cannot be replaced.

01 — Self-Adhesive, Peel-and-Stick

No Frame, No Steel, No Glass Replacement

LED Film bonds directly to existing glass with its adhesive backing. There is no cabinet, no mounting frame, and no structural work — each panel weighs 1.3 kg. Confirm the glazing with an engineer before ordering; most interior storefront and partition glass carries this load, but we do not treat that as a structural sign-off. For landlord-owned storefronts, heritage façades, or leased retail space where you cannot modify the glass, this is often the only transparent option that still ships as a screen. When the campaign ends, the film removes without permanent alteration.

Integrator benefit: Quote glass media where a framed cabinet would breach the lease — no drilling, no steel frame.
02 — Cuttable

Cut to Any Size — At the Factory or On Site

Most pitches ship in 250mm, 500mm, 750mm, and 1000mm widths; P15 uses 390×990 and 250×1000 mm. Panels are factory-cut to your glass dimensions. For irregular or recessed glass, edges can be trimmed on site without damaging the circuit. The screen fits the window instead of forcing a nearest-standard cabinet size.

Integrator benefit: No re-engineering the wall to match the product. The film matches the wall.
03 — Bendable

Conforms to Curved Glass, Columns, and Atriums

The flexible PET substrate bends to a minimum radius, so a single continuous display can wrap around a glass column, follow a curved storefront, or run across a rounded atrium balustrade. Send the glass curvature with your inquiry and we confirm the bend limit for your pixel pitch before production.

Integrator benefit: Sell curved and cylindrical glass media without a custom rigid frame.
04 — Anti-UV, No Yellowing

UV-Resistant Substrate, V1 Flame Retardant

The substrate is UV-resistant and V1 flame-retardant rated. Under normal interior glass exposure it is specified to stay clear for years; direct sun and heat are the aging factors, so interior mounting keeps the film within its rated range. Combined with the 100,000-hour LED lifespan, the surface is built for long indoor campaigns — not a one-week pop-up that yellows on the glass.

Integrator benefit: Interior installs stay readable; send V1 rating with the fire-code pack when the building asks for it.
05 — Breakpoint Signal Continuation

One Dead LED Won't Blank the Row

Each pixel segment is wired so the signal path continues past a failed point. If an LED dies from impact or a cut edge, the rest of the line keeps running — the damage shows as a local gap, not a dead row or a dead panel. On glass, where physical contact and on-site trimming are normal, this is the difference between a small cosmetic blemish and a full-section failure that needs a service call.

Integrator benefit: Fewer emergency service visits, and damage that stays invisible to a passing customer.
06 — Integrated LED + Driver

One Thin Layer — 2.5mm, Front Service

The LED chips and driver are integrated into a single 2.5mm-thin layer, which is why the film can be this thin and this light. Service access is from the front, so a replacement panel is applied from the room side without dismantling anything behind the glass. Power comes from standard 100–240V AC, and the whole system runs on Novastar or Colorlight control with HDMI, DVI, and VGA inputs.

Integrator benefit: Install and maintain from inside the building — no boom lift, no exterior access, no double-sided work.

Installation Cases

How LED Film Is Specified on Glass

These cards describe the three jobs Film is actually built for — retrofit glass, curved glass, and factory cut/bend — so you can judge fit before a site visit.

Media on Glass You Cannot Replace
Typical Job · Leased Storefront Glass

Media on Glass You Cannot Replace

Challenge

Landlord or lease rules often block glass replacement and framed cabinets. Drilling and extra weight are the deal-breakers — not the content brief.

Solution

Peel-and-stick on the interior face. Each panel weighs 1.3 kg; there is no frame and no drilling. Panels are factory-cut to the glass; service is from the room side.

Engineer Note

"If you cannot touch the structure, film is usually the only transparent option that still ships as a screen." — Kris Liang, Co-Founder

One Continuous Display Around a Radius
Typical Job · Curved Glass / Column

One Continuous Display Around a Radius

Challenge

Rigid transparent cabinets leave gaps on a curve. A custom-bent frame is a different product — and a different budget.

Solution

The PET substrate bends to a confirmed radius. Send the curvature with the inquiry; we check the bend limit for that pitch before production. Breakpoint wiring keeps a trimmed edge from blanking the row.

Engineer Note

"Curved glass is where film earns its keep. You confirm the bend radius before production, and the film follows the glass instead of fighting it." — Kris Liang, Co-Founder

FAQ

Common Questions from Integrators

Transparent LED film is a self-adhesive, flexible LED display applied directly to existing glass. It turns a window into a digital screen while keeping the view and daylight behind it readable. DOIT VISION's LED Film spans P5 to P20 with 90–95% transparency, is 2.5mm thin, and weighs 1.3kg per panel. Because it needs no frame or structural steel, it is the fastest route to media on glass without replacing the glass itself.
Yes. LED Film is designed for retrofit on existing glass — no glass replacement, no frame, no drilling. Each panel is peel-and-stick: clean the glass, position the panel, and press to bond. It installs on the interior face of storefront, office, and showroom glass. A two-person crew typically covers 20–30 m² per day on flat, accessible glass; curved or high glass takes longer. Confirm glass thickness and surface condition with an engineer before ordering.
No meaningful loss of daylight. At 90–95% transparency, LED Film lets most light and the view behind the glass pass through. What you see is a thin LED grid, not a solid screen — when content plays, eyes focus on the pixels; when off, the film reads nearly invisible. Coarser pitches (P10–P20) usually look more open because the LED grid is less dense. Choose the pitch that balances viewing distance against how much see-through you need to keep.
Yes — it is both cuttable and bendable. Most pitches ship in 250 mm, 500 mm, 750 mm, and 1000 mm widths; P15 uses 390×990 and 250×1000 mm. Panels are cut to your dimensions at the factory; edges can be trimmed on site for irregular glass. The flexible PET substrate bends to a minimum radius for curved glass, columns, and rounded display windows. Send the glass curvature (radius) with your inquiry and we confirm the bend limit for your pitch before production.
It depends on orientation. P5 is rated 2,500 nits; P6.25–P20 run 2,000–4,000 nits. That is enough for shaded glass, interior storefronts, and indirect daylight. For south-facing glass in direct sun, Transparent Grid (up to 5,000 nits) performs better. Send a site photo and orientation — our engineers confirm whether Film or Grid fits before you commit to a pitch.
Rated lifespan is 100,000 hours with 24/7 runtime. The substrate is UV-resistant and V1 flame-retardant rated. Under normal interior glass exposure the film is specified to stay clear for years; direct sun and heat are the main aging factors, so interior mounting keeps it within the -20 to +60°C operating range. Warranty is 2 years, covering manufacturing defects under normal use.
Not directly. LED Film is IP31 indoor-rated, intended for the interior face of glass or sheltered locations. It is not sealed against rain or direct weather. If the install faces weather, see Transparent Grid (IP30 indoor; outdoor options on request). If you need Film on exterior glass, mount it on the inside face of the window so the glass itself acts as the weather barrier.
Novastar and Colorlight are both supported, with Novastar as the default recommendation. Signal inputs include HDMI, DVI, and VGA. The film refreshes at 3,840 Hz with 16-bit grayscale for smooth motion without on-camera flicker. The controller is configured to your panel layout before shipping. Tell us your existing control infrastructure and we match the receiving hardware to it.
2 years, covering manufacturing defects under normal use and installation within spec. The warranty follows the quotation and shipment terms for your project. Coverage assumes installation and operation stay within the rated temperature (-20 to +60°C), humidity (10–90%), and indoor IP31 conditions. Spare panels and controller configuration can be quoted with the order so replacements are on hand after install.
You specify the glass dimensions and we cut the film to size at the factory. Most pitches use 250 / 500 / 750 / 1000 mm widths; P15 uses 390×990 and 250×1000 mm. Standard panels carry no minimum order; custom shapes and curved cuts are quoted per project. Send your glass measurements and we return a cut list plus line-item pricing within 24 hours.
Maximum draw is 600 W/m² and average consumption is about 200 W/m² on typical content. Because content on transparent film is often sparse — text, logos, short motion — real-world power sits well below peak. A 10m² storefront typically averages around 2kW. Input is 100–240V AC 50/60Hz, so it runs on standard building power without special electrical work in most retail and office environments.
It means a single failed LED or a cut at the panel edge will not blank the rest of the line. Each pixel segment is wired so the signal path continues past a dead point, so a damaged area shows as a local gap rather than killing the whole row or panel. This matters on glass, where physical impact or trimming can stress individual LEDs — the display degrades gracefully instead of failing a full section.
