Overview

What Makes COB Pro Different

COB Pro is not a generic fine pitch panel. It combines flip-chip COB technology with surface coating film, flexible architecture choices, and installation engineering that eliminates the pain points integrators actually deal with.

COB (Chip-on-Board) technology eliminates the individual LED lamp packaging used in SMD displays. Instead, LED chips are bonded directly to the PCB and encapsulated as a single surface. This removes the air gap between individual LEDs — the primary cause of pixel-level glare, moisture entry, and impact damage in SMD panels. Combined with DOIT VISION's surface coating film, the display surface is dead-flat with a uniform matte black appearance even when powered off.

COB Pro ships with two Hub Board architectures — choose the integrated 3-in-1 Hub Board (receiving card + power + signal in one board, fewer internal cables, quicker assembly) or a separate receiving card design for integrators who prefer their own control infrastructure. The choice is yours at order time, and it does not affect cabinet dimensions or mounting hardware.

Installation complexity is where fine pitch projects often blow their budget. COB Pro addresses this with a no-weld custom back bracket — we engineer the bracket to your wall dimensions at the factory and it bolts together on site with standard fasteners. For 90° corners, the cabinet edges are CNC-cut at the factory for precision joins. For curved or arc installations, we provide custom connection plates matched to your radius. Every module is color-calibrated individually before shipping, and you get the calibration data with the shipment. White-label branding is standard — your logo, your packaging, your documentation.

Manufactured end-to-end in Shenzhen — PCB fabrication, flip-chip bonding, coating application, module assembly, calibration, and 72-hour aging — one factory, one point of contact, one warranty.

Engineering

Seven Engineering Decisions That Make COB Pro the Right Choice

Design and manufacturing choices that matter to AV integrators — and why they matter to your end client.

01 — COB Flip-chip + Surface Coating

Flip-Chip COB With Surface Coating Film — 10,000:1 Contrast, Dead-Flat Surface

LED chips are bonded directly to the PCB and encapsulated as a single surface — no individual LED lamp packages, no air gap between pixels. The surface coating film delivers a uniform matte black finish even when the display is off. This combination eliminates the glare and pixel-grid effect common in SMD fine pitch panels. The result is a 10,000:1 contrast ratio under EN 62977, with the coating providing additional protection against dust adhesion and minor surface abrasion.

Integrator benefit: Your client sees a uniform black surface when powered off, not a grid of individual LED dots. The coating also reduces the visible seam line between adjacent cabinets.
02 — Hub Board Flexibility

3-in-1 Hub Board or Separate Receiver Card — Your Architecture, Your Choice

COB Pro offers two internal architectures: the integrated 3-in-1 Hub Board combines the receiving card, power management, and signal distribution in a single board — fewer cables, fewer connectors, fewer potential failure points inside the cabinet. Alternatively, choose the separate receiving card design if your project already standardizes on a specific control infrastructure. Both options share the same cabinet form factor, front-access service, and external mounting hardware. The choice does not affect lead time or minimum order.

Integrator benefit: Standardize on your preferred control setup across the project. No forced bundling of hardware you don't need.
03 — No-Weld Back Bracket

Custom Back Bracket — No Site Welding, Bolts Together With Standard Tools

COB Pro ships with a custom-engineered back bracket system matched to your wall dimensions. No steel frame welding on site — the bracket sections are fabricated at our factory and bolt together using standard M8 fasteners. The bracket can accommodate uneven wall surfaces via adjustment points. We also produce custom connection plates for curved or arc splicing installations. Structural drawings are provided at no charge with every quotation. The bracket can be customized for any wall dimension.

Integrator benefit: Eliminate the single largest variable cost in fine pitch installation — structural steel fabrication and on-site welding. Your two-person crew installs 8–10m² per day with standard tools.
04 — CNC Edge Cutting & Custom Splicing

CNC-Cut 90° Corners & Custom Arc Splicing — Creative Shapes Without Compromise

For L-shaped or corner installations, COB Pro cabinet edges can be CNC machine-cut at the factory to achieve precise 90° corner joins with no visible gap at the seam. For curved or arc installations, we supply custom connection plates engineered to your exact radius. These are not generic brackets bent on site — each plate is machined to the specified curve at the factory. Both CNC cutting and custom splicing plates are quoted per project and do not affect the standard lead time.

Integrator benefit: Offer creative installation shapes — L-shaped video walls, curved boardroom displays, immersive control room arcs — without structural compromise or visible corner gaps.
05 — Three Brightness Tiers

600, 800, or 1,000 Nits — Right-Size the Brightness to the Environment

COB Pro is available in three brightness tiers. 600 nits for controlled-lighting environments: control rooms, broadcast studios, and post-production suites. 800 nits for high-ambient indoor spaces: boardrooms with natural daylight, retail flagships, and museum galleries. 1,000 nits for maximum indoor brightness: glass-walled lobbies, atriums, and installations facing direct sunlight. Higher brightness draws more power and shortens LED lifespan incrementally — specifying the correct tier at order time avoids unnecessary operating cost over the display's 100,000-hour rated life.

Integrator benefit: Don't pay for brightness you don't need. 600 nits at P0.62 draws ~135W/m² average. At 1,000 nits you're running hotter and drawing more — justified in an atrium, wasteful in a windowless control room.
06 — Factory Color Calibration

Per-Module Calibration Before Shipping — Color Uniformity That Exceeds Industry Standard

Every COB Pro module is individually color-calibrated at the factory before shipping. Each LED chip's brightness and chromaticity coordinates are measured and corrected against a master reference, producing uniform output across the entire order — not just within a single batch. Combined with the surface coating film, this eliminates the visible color and brightness seams between adjacent cabinets that plague lower-tier fine pitch products. Calibration data is included with every shipment for your records and future service reference.

Integrator benefit: No 'patchwork effect' on site. Adjacent cabinets match seamlessly right out of the crate. Calibration data gives you a reference baseline for any future service calibration.
07 — White-Label ODM

Your Brand, Your Product — Full White-Label Manufacturing

DOIT VISION offers complete white-label ODM service for COB Pro. Cabinets ship with your company logo, your branding on the packaging, and your documentation. No DOIT VISION branding appears anywhere on the product — front, rear, or internal. Technical support is provided under your brand identity, so your client's service experience is seamless. Standard for AV integrators and system resellers who sell under their own brand. MOQ and artwork specifications are provided at quotation stage.

Integrator benefit: Sell COB Pro under your own brand name. Your client never sees DOIT VISION — the product, packaging, and support all carry your logo.

COB Pro in the Field

Three documented installations that illustrate how integrators deploy COB Pro in demanding environments — and the engineering decisions that made each project work.

COB Pro 90 degree CNC-cut corner LED wall seamless installation
COB Pro P0.9 · New Jersey, USA

33sqm Immersive COB Showroom — 90° Seamless Corners

Challenge

The 90° internal corner meant two physically obscured pixel columns at the seam — visible as dark lines with standard cabinet alignment. Required pixel-level offset mapping calibrated on each of the 20 Ethernet output cards, plus a custom CNC mounting framework with ±0.5mm per-axis adjustment at the corner plane intersection.

Solution

COB Pro P0.9 at 10,000:1 contrast. Custom NovaStar H9 configuration with pixel offset compensation. CNC-machined steel mounting frame. 3-in-1 Hub Board kept internal cabling manageable across 33sqm. Four-week total timeline from factory to calibrated display — over 40 million pixels.

Engineer Note

"A 90° corner at sub-1mm pitch is one of the hardest things to get right in fine pitch LED. Two pixel columns physically disappear at the corner plane — misalignment by even half a pixel is visible from 1m. We ran calibration twice before signing off." — Kris Liang, Co-Founder

Custom P0.78 Hub Board — 7-Day R&D Turnaround
COB Pro P0.78 · Boston, USA

Custom P0.78 Hub Board — 7-Day R&D Turnaround

Challenge

Custom PCB layout from scratch with non-standard signal routing. Only 7 days from requirement doc to delivered, tested board. If the board failed electrical validation, the client's project timeline had no buffer — zero margin for error.

Solution

DOIT VISION's 15-engineer R&D team designed, fabricated, assembled, and tested the bespoke hub board in 7 working days. COB Pro P0.78 module with custom pixel mapping delivered via a single purpose-built driver board. Passed all electrical and thermal validation on first iteration.

Result

This case demonstrates what "Engineered for You, Not Off the Shelf" means in practice. When a client needs a hardware-level customisation on a tight timeline, DOIT VISION's 15 in-house engineers can go from napkin sketch to tested prototype inside a week — not as a special favour, but as standard R&D capability.

16×4 Cabinet Wall — Utility Control Center for Blue Rhine
COB Pro P0.9375 · Dubai, UAE

16×4 Cabinet Wall — Utility Control Center for Blue Rhine

Challenge

Shallow 180mm wall cavity eliminated all rear-access cabinet options. Operators sit 1.5–2.5m from the wall — pixel pitch had to be fine enough for text legibility at close range. Overhead fluorescent lighting: glare and reflection on the previous DLP wall was a documented operator complaint. Client required 16:9 content alignment without cropping.

Solution

COB Pro P0.9375 at 600 nits. 16×4 cabinet array (9.6×1.35m, ~13m²). Front-access service eliminated the need for rear clearance. Custom no-weld back bracket engineered for the 180mm cavity with 4-point micro-adjustment per cabinet. Surface coating film eliminated the glare problem. 3-in-1 Hub Board kept cabling minimal with only 87mm of air gap behind the cabinets.

Engineer Note

"The 180mm depth constraint is common in retrofit control rooms — the previous-generation DLP technology had different clearance requirements. COB Pro at 33mm cabinet depth plus a 60mm bracket left 87mm of air gap for cooling and cable management. Front-access meant we never had to open the rear, which in a 180mm cavity would have been impossible." — Kris Liang, Co-Founder

FAQ

Common Questions from Integrators

COB Pro offers 6 pixel pitches: P0.62, P0.78, P0.9375, P1.25, P1.5625, and P1.875. Minimum viewing distance equals pixel pitch in meters — P0.62 works from 0.62m. For control rooms at 1–2m operator distance, P0.78 or P0.9375 is standard. For boardrooms at 2–3m, P1.25 or P1.5625. P1.875 suits installations above 3m. All models share the identical 600×337.5×33mm cabinet and 4kg weight.
COB Pro: 16:9 cabinet (600×337.5mm, 4kg), 6 models P0.62–P1.875, CNC edge cutting, arc splicing, 3 brightness tiers. COB Beta: 4:3 cabinet (640×480mm, 7.5kg), 3 models P1.25–P1.86, common cathode. Pro is lighter, supports creative shapes, and covers finer pitches. Beta is heavier but delivers square-pixel layouts at a lower cost per square meter.
The coating film serves three functions: (1) anti-glare — reduces reflection from overhead lighting, a critical factor in control rooms and boardrooms; (2) contrast enhancement — the matte black coating absorbs ambient light between pixels, achieving a measured 10,000:1 contrast ratio; (3) surface uniformity — unlike bare COB where the LED encapsulation can appear slightly uneven at certain angles, the coating creates a dead-flat surface across the entire module face. When powered off, the display looks like a uniform black wall, not a grid of LED dots.
COB Pro offers two options: the 3-in-1 Hub Board integrates the receiving card, power supply management, and signal distribution in a single board inside the cabinet — fewer cables, fewer connectors, and faster assembly. Alternatively, a separate receiving card design lets you use your own preferred control hardware. Both options share the same cabinet form factor and do not affect lead time. Specify your preference at order time.
Yes — COB Pro uses a no-weld custom back bracket system. The bracket is engineered to your wall dimensions at the factory and bolts together on site using standard M8 fasteners. No welding, no grinding, no hot work permits. The bracket includes adjustment points for uneven wall surfaces. For curved installations, custom connection plates are machined to your radius. For 90° corners, cabinet edges are CNC-cut at the factory. Structural drawings included at no charge.
600 nits for controlled-lighting environments (control rooms, broadcast studios, post-production). 800 nits for high-ambient indoor (boardrooms with daylight, retail, museums). 1,000 nits for maximum indoor brightness (glass-walled lobbies, atriums, direct sunlight exposure). Higher brightness increases power draw and operating temperature incrementally — specifying the correct tier avoids unnecessary energy cost over 100,000 hours of operation. Our engineers can recommend the right tier based on your room's lux measurements.
Full white-label ODM service: cabinets ship with your logo on the product, your branding on packaging, your documentation inside. Zero DOIT VISION branding anywhere on the hardware. Technical support runs under your brand identity. This is a standard capability — not a special request. MOQ and artwork specs provided at quotation. Designed for AV integrators and system resellers who sell under their own brand.
15–20 business days EXW Shenzhen including per-module color calibration and 72-hour aging test. No minimum order quantity. Shipment includes 3–5% spare modules, calibration data, and structural bracket drawings. DDP shipping quoted on request. Standard sea freight adds 20–30 days to major ports worldwide; express air freight adds 3–7 days.
Every COB Pro module undergoes per-module color calibration at the factory before shipping. Each LED chip's brightness and chromaticity are individually measured and corrected, producing a uniform output across the entire order. Combined with the surface coating film technology, this ensures that adjacent cabinets show no visible color or brightness seams. Calibration data is provided with every shipment.
Novastar is the default and recommended controller (NovaPro HD, MCTRL4K) — supported across all 6 COB Pro models. Colorlight (X16, CL10Pro) is available on P1.875 only. Brompton Tessera SX40 is available on request for P0.9375 and above. Input options include DVI, HDMI, SDI, DP, VGA, and YPBPR. The control system is installed inside the cabinet — no external receiving card mounting needed.
