A Touring 500, Not a Brochure 6,500

Six SKUs. One cabinet size. Indoor and outdoor from the same lock family.

Matrix 500 is a 500×500×78 mm die-cast rental cabinet. Indoor SKUs (P2.6 / P2.9 / P3.9) weigh 7.3 kg at 1000 or 1100 nits, IP31 / IP31. Outdoor SKUs (P2.9 / P3.9 / P4.8) weigh 7.8 kg (P4.8 is 7.7 kg) at 4500 nits, IP65 / IP65.


Service is front and rear. Control is Novastar / Colorlight standard (a Brompton Tessera version is also available, quoted separately based on receiving card configuration). Refresh is ≥3840 Hz. Contrast 5000:1. Module 250×250×17 mm. Average 200–220 W/m², max 600–680 W/m². Voltage 100–240 V AC.

What the cabinet actually does on a rental wall — and what that means for the bid.

01 — 500×500×78

One lock family for indoor and outdoor

Every Matrix SKU uses the same 500×500×78 mm die-cast cabinet. Indoor P2.6 / P2.9 / P3.9 at 7.3 kg. Outdoor P2.9 / P3.9 at 7.8 kg and P4.8 at 7.7 kg. You do not change the lock when the date card flips from a hall to a plaza.

Integrator benefit: One spare lock and one flight-case foam for indoor and outdoor SKUs.
02 — 7.3 / 7.8 kg

Light enough for a small crew, not a 14.4 kg plate

Indoor 7.3 kg. Outdoor 7.8 kg (7.7 on P4.8). That is why Matrix stays on 500 mm when X-1000 is the 1000 mm outdoor plate. A two-person hang is the assumption, not a forklift.

Integrator benefit: You bid crew size from 7.3 / 7.8 kg, not from a generic “lightweight rental” line.
03 — Brompton on the SKU

Tessera is listed — Matrix 500

Control system: Novastar / Colorlight standard. Brompton Tessera version: quoted separately against your receiving-card configuration. (If your show file is already on Tessera, start on this page.) Signal inputs on the SKU: DVI, HDMI.

Integrator benefit: You do not write Brompton onto a Lite or X-1000 quote and hope the receiving card exists.
04 — Front and rear service

Swap from the face or the back

Matrix is the series that services both ways. Lite, X-1000, and Flex are front-only. On a flown wall you pull a module from the face. On a ground-stack with rear access you open the power box from the back.

Integrator benefit: A dead lamp does not mean striking the wall. The 3-in-1 power box is the service unit.
05 — 4500 nits outdoor, not 6,500

SKU brightness only

Outdoor Matrix is 4500 nits. Indoor is 1000 nits (P2.6 / P2.9) or 1100 nits (P3.9). Do not copy a 6,500 nits brochure line onto this series. IP is IP65 / IP65 outdoor and IP31 / IP31 indoor.

Integrator benefit: The bid nits match the SKU sheet. The electrician sizes 200–220 W/m² average and 600–680 W/m² max.
06 — 2-year warranty

CE / EMC /TÜV

Warranty is 2 years. Certifications are CE, EMC, TÜV. Matrix can pursue listing through an accredited lab, typically 8–10 weeks.

Common Questions from Integrators

Matrix 500 ships one cabinet: 500×500×78 mm die-cast aluminum. Indoor SKUs weigh 7.3 kg. Outdoor P2.9 / P3.9 weigh 7.8 kg; outdoor P4.8 weighs 7.7 kg. There is no 500×1000 Matrix SKU — that plate is X-1000. Send width × height; an engineer returns a 500 mm count and an EXW quote within 24 hours.
Choose Matrix when the fleet must tour indoor and outdoor on a 500 mm lock and you need Brompton on the SKU. Choose Lite when 6 kg and stock price matter more than Brompton. Choose X-1000 when the wall is outdoor 500×1000 at 5000 nits and IP65 / IP54. Do not mix Matrix and X-1000 on one elevation without a drawing review.
Indoor Matrix is 1000 nits on P2.6 / P2.9 and 1100 nits on P3.9, IP31 / IP31. Outdoor Matrix is 4500 nits, IP65 / IP65, on P2.9 / P3.9 / P4.8. Do not write 6,500 nits. Do not use an indoor SKU outdoors.
